✿ Aloha and Hau'oli Makahiki Hou! Is everyone in the Hawaiian Life community enjoying the New Year? Hope you all had a nice holiday season! I took a little time off to spend with family, now am back & ready for 2012. Gonna check in with Kilauea & see what she was up to in December. As I'm writing, I have the music of Travis Roig in my ear. Have you heard of him? He has a new album recently realeased: Sincerely Manufactured! One word... Awesome... ;-)
*Kilauea In All Her Beauty*
The beautiful Kilauea Volcano made herself know throughout this past year but was quite vocal during the Christmas break, in fact she was making herself heard and seen pretty much all of December. Kilauea has been constantly erupting since back in 1983 and through much of the recorded history was relatively pretty mild and peaceful. In geological talk, you might think the time period is quite small. On the contrary, charred plant life goes back over 2000 years ago and makes her look not so peaceful and very fierce...
This past December, she made herself known several times. If you want to get accurate information the best place to receive it is at Hawaii's Volcanoes National Park. That's where you'll find Kilauea and all her glory but if you want to visit, check with them first because the viewing schedule constantly changes... In early December a cone in the crater that occasionally would spit out lava showed an explosive event going on in the crater within the past week or two. It had been flowing down toward the Royal Gardens subdivision triggering brush fires along the way...
Then in between many beautiful lava spurts and sputters, mid December had numerous small streams of lava that were seen flowing down the sea cliff and into the ocean. The entry point was within the National Park close to the east border. As with most months Kilauea made herself known many times. Some of them so slight, they don't always make top news. Rounding out the month, Kilauea had continued her fierceness into the ocean at West Ka'ili'ili. There were numerous entry points with a spectacular view covering a broad section of the coast and one stream of lava allowing a thick steam plume at the water's edge...
** ♪ ♫ Alright, as I already mentioned, as I write I am listening to the newly released album, §ƖƝƇЄƦЄԼƳ MƛƝƲƑƛƇƬƲƦЄƊ ƁƳ ƬƦƛƔƖ§ ƦƠƖƓ. Di just had a birthday a few days ago & I decided to treat myself to some music... If I had paid closer attention to a friend of mine Ted Chambers, who is @liquidvistas on Twitter, I would already be enjoying Travis's music... I was always focused on Ted's video artwork... at YouTube . Ted, who has this incredible video art, none like I've ever seen, introduced me to Travis last week & now I've made a new friend... Mahalo Ted! ;-)
Music is my first love & all that know me, know that I love music of all Genres, but I must admit, I don't have a lot of Alternative music... I immediately went looking into Travis's music & was blown away by it. It may be labeled Alternative but I gotta say, with his voice, he'd be great at Country & Rock or could easily do several other different styles... Travis is also a very talented musician...
