@HawaiianLife: Says; The Hawaiian Life is being kind to all life... Today is all about Hawaiian Life!!! Aloha and Good Morning to everyone out there in the Hawaiian Life community. Di here, that must mean it is Monday! How are you all doing today? I hope you all had a safe and Happy Independence Day. Time for another Blog to be posted. This week my article will be a little different. I'm going to talk about how I started here. Today is a special day for me here at Hawaiian Life. It was on this day one year ago to the day, July 5, 2009, that I became a member of Hawaiian Life! Never in a million years, would I have ever thought that my love of Hawaii would take me down this road. The path I am on is looking brighter every day...
The journey I am on started with a little social networking site called Twitter! Yes I can thank Twitter for writing this article today. No, I can thank Mike for writing the article, lol but Twitter is where I met a lot of nice people, Mike being one. First of all if you don't know it by now, Mike is on Twitter @HawaiianLife and he sends out quotes of positive messages and upbeat words of encouragement. He had been following me for a while & we had talked every so often. I didn't talk much back then, was shy... lol ...you'd never know it now! ;-)
I was immediately drawn to what he tweeted and his background photo of Hamauma Bay blew me away. I found myself checking out his Hawaiian Life website more & more. One day after a long day at work Mike & I were talking & he asked me why I wasn't following him & he called me Bro!!! ;-) Well, I know he just wasn't thinking & was very tired, & the fact that I had a guys pic for my avatar at the time didn't help. lol That message though changed my life lol because after reminding him I wasn't a Bro lol I went and clicked on the follow button.
As time went on I found myself here more often. The site is full of a variety of articles on all sorts of topics, all Hawaiian of course. Wasn't long and I found myself reading Mikes articles everyday. I love this place... Also was checking out the photographs that were here. This whole website is all about Hawaii, which to me was appealing in itself. I have always been intrigued with the whole culture of the Hawaiian people, always loved Hawaiian music and I have this love for palm trees that keeps growing. I have palm tree items all over my house. Coconut Palms are my favorite!
Then came July 5th...I was at Twitter. It was Carsten Schack's Birthday. @SoulshockLA He is a music producer/songwriter in Los Angeles and one half of the Danish Duo Soulshock & Karlin. He is President of Soul Power Productions. He was also one of the judges on X Factor DK this year. He has a smile that... well... nevermind. lol You could say I'm a fan. lol The poor guy must have gotten a bazillion tweets back then & that was just from me! lol ;-) I've gotten much better though, at least at sending his tweets. ;-) He also got a Birthday cake on Twitter & a couple quotes as well. Sending a link~it's in Danish, but they don't have it in English.
Soul is one of those rare men that are in the entertainment world. If you meet him on the street, besides that Danish accent that is very noticeable, you would not know he is famous. He has never let his fame go to his head & never forgotten where he came from. I think that is one of his best qualities.;-) His passion for his craft is truly amazing! To this day, I really look forward to the days when he talks about what's going on in the studio. He's a very busy guy, but makes time to tweet when he can. He's also a huge fan of The Gods of Music: Kraftwerk! They Rule...
Later that same afternoon I was talking to Mike when all of a sudden it was like he didn't exist. His tweets vanished...all of them. His Twitter page was gone. I was like, where did my inspiration go? All his positive messages were gone. His words were quite powerful & I was using them to work through something. I had to find him and find out what happened to him. At that time I only knew of one way to reach him...Hawaiian Life! So after he had invited me to check out the site and join, I knew that was the only way I could find out why he vanished.
I couldn't send him a message until I joined, so I came here to Hawaiian Life and signed up. I sent Mke a message. He was glad I found my way here, but had no idea what happened to his account. Come to find out, Twitter had accidentally suspended a huge number of Twitter accounts, and Mike's just happened to be one of them. His Twitter page was back the next day. Along with it was all the inspiration you could ask for, kind words of encouragement and his words of wisdom. His messages are quite similar to the articles he writes. They have a common link between them.
When he writes, whether it be for an article he is working on, or a quote or message he is sending out at Twitter or just having a conversation with a friend, he puts his whole heart into all he does. He is genuine and not at all fake. He and I hit it off from day one. Our friendship has grown like wildfire. He has become an important part of my life and I couldn't ask for a better friend. He had been after me to write a Blog for quite a while. I'm glad I finally gave in. I look forward to writing now every week and sharing with you all.
I send his messages out daily at Twitter because I believe in the words he speaks. I look forward to each and every article he writes about Hawaii. We share a common passion and love for the islands. It is all about the Aloha Spirit, not how pretty the place is or how nice the weather is, but how the people are with their Aloha aina (their love of the land). I have yet to experience that but that is what I plan to do. I really can't put into words the feeling I get just thinking about stepping onto the Hawaiian soil. It will be a magical moment for me for sure.
Well, everyone that is it for another week. I hope you enjoyed this weeks article. I can't believe I've been here a year already. I'm still new to the writing world and certainly don't consider myself a pro like Mike, but do enjoy sharing this journey with you all. You can find me at Twitter as well at @DianneLittle. Happy Birthday Soul!!! I hope you have an Awesome Birthday... ;-) I'll send out a few links of things I love, including a Keali'i Reichel song E Ala 'E I just can't get enough of him. ;-) Also, Greg Slawson sent this video the other day~talk about relaxing... Don't forget that we have merchandise here through HawaiianLife at the Storefront. The HawaiianLife Facebook Fan Page has Tiki's and yes they are calling...hear them? lol ;-) Greg & Candice, have an amazing vacation!!! Hope you all have a safe and happy week...
